Scott’s journey into the realm of cyber security began during his teenage years, sparked by a curious mind and a knack for circumventing his school’s web content filters. His early experiments
with phreaking, notably using a Psion Revo to make free phone calls, laid the foundation for a career driven by a passion for understanding and overcoming digital security challenges.
After a stint in office work, Scott sought a more engaging path, leading him to join the British Army as an Electronic Warfare Systems Operator.
In this role, he specialised in undermining the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of enemy communications, honing his skills in a high-stakes environment. Scott’s expertise further expanded while mentoring two new cyber capabilities at a listening station in Cyprus.
He then transitioned to a large UK training provider, where his role encompassed teaching a wide array of subjects, including infrastructure and web application security, WiFi, and cloud security.
Additionally, Scott designed and marshalled two government cyber competitions, showcasing his ability to create challenging and educational scenarios for learners. With experience teaching at renowned conferences such as Blackhat, Nullcon, Brucon, and Bsides, Scott has established himself as a respected voice in the cyber security field.
Now working as a freelance cyber security instructor, he brings his rich background and hands-on experience to his courses, offering students insights grounded in real-world applications and cutting-edge practices.
